Flower candle

Candle with paper flower - tutorial including free digital image.

Step 1

Find a candle you would like to decorate. Download and print out the following - free digital image
(the download sheet has two sets of images to create two flowers) You will also need dimensional tape, craft glue, a large sewing needle, a button and some twine.

Step 2

Cut out the four elements on the printed collage sheet, needed to create the flower and band. As in the photo below.

Step 3

Using a pair of scissors curl the edges of each of the three flower elements. Just like you would do when you curl ribbon when wrapping a present.

Step 4

Then take each of the three flower elements and push the center of the flower while pushing from the back with your other hand. As shown in the photo below. This creates a concave center with petals that curl back.

Step 5

Place a very thin piece of two sided dimensional tape in the center of the two larger flower elements.

Step 6

Place the three flower elements on top of each other (starting with the largest and ending with smallest). Make sure you line up the two pieces of dimensional tape so they sit directly on top of each other. Now take a piece of string or twine of your choice and thread it through a needle with a large eye. Then sew the button through all three layers of the flower, finishing with the two ends of the thread on the front face of the button.

Step 7

Tie the two ends of the twine together in a bow. Then attach the band to the candle by gluing the two ends together at the rear. You can then attach the flower to the band at the front of the candle with dimensional tape or craft glue. That's it, you have created a great new decoration for your house or a fantastic gift for someone special. You can of course use other decorator papers if you wish to create a different look and feel.

Here are some other candles that I decorated. You can see the tutorial for the rustic twig candle, complete with free digital images by clicking on the below photo.
